Olive wood industry in Bethlehem

Bethlehem city is the place where the Christ was born. Among the feature of the city is the industry of olive wood statues which offer art and concrete approach.

 The Industry of olive wood is the oldest traditional industries in Palestine, where it is go back to the sixteenth century, and emerged with the arrival of missionaries to the holy land, and began manufacturing rosaries. Then the industry evolved to produce forms of religious status to Christiansen tourist in Bethlehem area.

Used in this industry timber and weak olive that do not bear, so it does not cause damage to the agricultural sector, and by 1967, most timber came from Syria and Jordan, but after the occupation they became from areas of Ramallah and Nablus.
